Pr. C George Mathew (Sunny)

C. George Mathew was born in 1952 to a C.S.I. family in Omalloor, Pathanamthitta, Kerala. At the early age of 15, he obeyed the heavenly call and surrendered his life to the Lord. He pursued his Bible study course at Salem Bible School in Vadavathoor, Kottayam during the years 1970-71 following the completion of his higher secondary education. He was greatly engaged in Church activities and served as Pathanamthitta District PYPA Secretary for 2 years.

Sunny reached Abu Dhabi in February 1976 looking for a secular job. Many years later, he sensed the call of the Holy Spirit to target the unreached labour camps of Mussafah for Gospel work. Along with two other brothers (Abraham Oommen and Thankachen Daniel), he started a prayer meeting there in 1991. The expansion of the ministry led to his ordination as Pastor on November 29 th 2007 by the laying on of hands of Pr. M. C. Chacko, under the auspices of I.P.C. Abu Dhabi and I.P.C. UAE Region.

He is married to Jainamma Mathew and their children are Susan, Paul and Peter. Susan and husband Binu are settled in Melbourne, Australia with their sons, Abel and Aaron. Paul, his wife Neethu and their baby boy Johaan reside in Abu Dhabi. Peter is a Grade-XI student in Abu Dhabi. Serving the Lord in various capacities, Pastor Sunny and his family is a blessing to I.P.C. Ebenezer.

Looking back at the last 38 years in the Gulf, he says always “Thus far the Lord has helped us – Ebenezer.”
